The stallion of the year!

At the beginning of 2020 Sezuan received the highest award that the Danish Federation has to offer: Stallion of the Year. In addition, the triple dressage horse world champion was also named Elite Stallion. His Grand Prix debut is planned for this year. He will be presented by the Swedish world class rider Patrik Kittel.

Sezuan – the triple World Champion! After winning the World Championships for young dressage horses in the class for five-year olds and defending his title the following year in the class for six-year olds, Sezuan also won the class for seven-year olds held for the first time in 2016 with a spectacular performance and a margin of nearly nine percentage points ahead of his closest competitor. The judges gave him the perfect score of 10.0 for his outstanding perspectives. He was also awarded a 9.8 for his trot as well as his walk, a 9.4 for his canter and 9.3 for suppleness. Even in the qualifier, which our extraordinary stallion won by a mile under his rider, Dorothee Schneider, he received the maximum possible score of 10.0 twice, once for his canter and also for his perspectives.

The pedigree of his sire, the Danish Elite stallion and Stallion of the Year, Blue Hors Zack, combines extremely valuable bloodlines through Rousseau, Jazz and Belisar and he was a Champion Stallion not only in the Netherland but also in Denmark. 2015 he was able to celebrate victories up to Inter I level with Daniel Bachmann Andersen/DEN. 25 of his sons have been licensed, including the Champion Stallions Blue Hors Zee Me Blue and Zorba Højris as well as the premium stallion Zalabaster. Among his 28 premium daughters, Champion Mare Lillevangs Pari-Diva stands out.

Sezuan‘s dam, Bøgegårdens Don Romina, is a gold medal mare who also took the Mare of the Year title in Denmark. She also gave birth to full sisters of Sezuan who were both winners of their broodmare performance tests: Straight Horse Ascenzione and Straight Horse Sezuanna, the latter of which became the Danish Champion Mare, and a top priced filly named Straight Horse Zarina (by Blue Hors Zalabaster).

The dam’s sire, Blue Hors Don Schufro, is a son of Donnerhall, a stallion who still strongly influences what goes on in dressage. He won team bronze under Andreas Helgstrand with the Danish team at the Olympic Games in Hongkong.

Sezuans granddam, BøgegårdensLaina, is a bronze medal mare.

Sezuan passed his stallion performance test in 2012 in Denmark with scores never awarded before: He was actually given the highest possible score of 10.0 ten times! In 2013 Sezuan continued his victory march and became the Danish Champion Stallion. Following this, he went on to become the best four-year old dressage horse in Denmark at the competition in Odense.

Sezuan’s first two crops produced sons who were licensed in Germany, Great Britain and Denmark, led by the Oldenburg Premium stallion Sam. His daughter Sezua won the Baden-Württemberg Riding Horse Championships, placed fourth at the Southern German Championships and participated in the National Championships. Baunehojens and Maskedals Beat It marched in the Final ring at the Danish Elite Broodmare Show. Throughout Europe Sezuan’s foals are setting totally new standards. So he had presented after the Danish victory, the colt Strandagergards Sirocco, which was auctioned off with a record price of 74,000 Euro in 2014. On top of that he sired the filly Schwarze Schwalbe Macohl, the Danish Foal Champion in 2015. A range of further show victories such as the Australian Champion Foal Hollands Bend Shangri-La, and auction tops are listed.
